From the Prez....

Happy New Year!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. We had a wonderful Christmas with our family here. With our family spread out as they are, we enjoyed spending part of the day on Skype with some of the them. Pretty amazing that we can be 3800 miles apart and still spend some face time together on any given day. Technology!

I am ready for more daylight and for it to warm up! I can do without this cold weather and darkness, it makes a person crabby. I have been fighting a little case of cabin fever over the past few days, not even wanting to go out of the house. I keep looking at the weather on the computer and wishing for a nice 0 to 10 above (or more). My friends down south know I have lost my mind when I tell them that I wish it would warm up to zero, they can't imagine it "warming" up to zero!

This is the time of year when those of us in the snow machine community begin to get busy. As we gain daylight and hopefully some warmer temps, we have a number of events coming up. There is the Iron Dog race, The Tired Iron, Arctic Man, The Trek Over The Top, hill climbs, our own Snow Rondy and many others. Almost all of these events are put on with volunteer help. If you have some time, be it an hour or a day, your time will be appreciated and you will most likely meet some great people.

I hate to sound like a broken record but it's election time. Elections will be held at the February general membership meeting. We have at least 3 open seats on the board to fill this year. The board meets on the first Wednesday of the month, meetings usually last about an hour to an hour and a half. Anyone interested can contact any of the current board members. If you are a member of the club and care about the future of our sport, we need you.
