From the Prez....

Happy New Year !?!

With the holidays over, one would think we could be looking forward to spring and the promise of warmer weather, bluebird skies and endless powder. Not. Here it is the end of an era, the beginning of 2010 and still no snow forecasted anytime soon. It has put a real crunch on our ride calendar. For those of us that just can´t stand to have a sled rust away or die of old age sitting under a cover, the rides that we have taken left something to be desired. The reports from Summit and Cantwell haven´t been very good and our friends at Maclaren tell us the road is still bare until you get to the wind drifts halfway in. This is not a happy camper here.

It is election time! We have 2 new names on the ballot for a board seat, Matt Turner and Steve Enoch. Because we didn´t get the nomination process done until our December meeting, we will hold the election at the February meeting.

Our January meeting is going to be centered around safety. For some of us that go out and ride some pretty remote areas, it´s always a good refresher. For the newer riders, it´s good advice. Capt. Rosso from Steese Volunteer Fire Department has graciously agreed to join us and give us a presentation on some of their safety equipment. We have also asked a couple of our special (take it however you want!) members to bring in examples of what they take with them on rides.

If you haven´t done so yet, time is running out to sign up for the Maclaren ride in February 27-28 and the Beaver Point Lodge ride March 6-7. Cost for either ride is $75 per person. There are still openings for both rides but the cutoff is the January meeting. The meeting is January 20th , 7 p.m. at Compeau´s, hope to see you all there.
