Re: How is the snow on the Denali Hwy?

As of Monday,
From the Cantwell side....The road is plowed to mile 99. (30 miles shy of the Sue river)
From the Paxson side.... plowed to Tangle lakes. Predict you will able to drive to Maclaren by next weekend. (April 17th)..... And to Alpine creek via Cantwell.

Re:White Mnt trails just became rutted.

Tony, Nice report as always! You said you would only dispute the cabin rental next year, why? Do you mean how the BLM stepped on their dickey’s by making the race special priority over all others? Or how they have came around to common sense thinking about public lands and how it could actually be e...

Re: 2010 Bearcat and M sleds

Its O.M. O. the 2010 570 XT bearcat is way under powered for deep snow. The 2011 have a 3” pitch track that will improve rolling resistance & staying on top. We’ll see. Already looking at the 4-stroke model. D.rice, not surprised your dumping the Nytro Mx. They don’t handle well in the front end...

Re: BLM Seeks Public Comments on Proposed White Mountains Race

Someone has an idea! Let’s organize a Sno-go race next year (2011) during this same timeframe. We should put in for the cabin rentals (plural) 6 months prior to beat out the bike, foot, ski racers. Remember they got 3 months so they may organize. Oh………. and check out the Sue-100 race this weekend ……...

Re: McKay Ck to Windy Gap Jan 30th

I've been going past the Nome Creek parking lot off the Steese every weekend. The snow we got here in town last week only left 1/2 " at mile 57 steese, 12 mile/Eagle Summit.

John, Any chance of me picking up the groomer next week and keeping it until the 10th?

Re: Everyone wished I had a GPS that day

Remember, if you have a GPS unit without maps loaded into it our your route or waypoint isn't stored, YOU STILL SCREWED!

Its worth the money to have a unit with Alaksa maps OR, carry paper maps and convert your lat/log.

"We just want to thank everyone for their comments regarding the potential race"

Potentail Race? I understand they already have 3 cabins in reserve. And O.B.W. BLM rules for cabin reservations is no more than 30 days in advance.

Re: BLM Seeks Public Comments on Proposed White Mountains Race

This is both positive for winter sports & a selfish idea. March is a prime time for snowmachiners to be in the Whites riding. The days are long the sun is warm. Folks wait all year for the family pilgrimage to a treasure so close to home. The competition for a cabin is great. One may stay up la...
