Well, this story turned out to be very wrong. The bridge is intact. Just the approaches have channels cut across them as the channel under the bridge is glaciered shut.

Back when I was going up there there wasn't a bridge at all! :shock:

We drove up there this afternoon. The water is now running under the bridge but the road on both ends of the bridge is cut with the channels that went around the bridge. The one on the north side has to be 10 feet deep. BLM has a huge amount of gravel stockpiled right there so it shouldn't take any time to repair the washouts. The jeep road to the right as you approach the bridge is open and you should be able to camp down there.
