ALASKA MOTOR MUSHERS CLUB NORCON SNOCROSS 1/3/04

#1 Post by john »

Mother Nature has been very kind to us this year with all this snow. At the Norcon Snox on Saturday Jan 3rd we had the best track that we have ever seen in Anchorage. Yes the parking was very limited and the mountain of snow was enormous but we saw some great racing action.

Stevan Bartlett (Fairbanks) and Dave Kapla (Fairbanks) were the only two racers all day to go undefeated. Stevan Bartlett won the Junior Liquid class and Dave Kapla won the Veterans Open.

Taylor Haltness (Valdez) held off Jackson Kinnen (Valdez) all day to take the overall win in the Junior Novice 10-13 class. With Tylor Tilton (Big Lake) taking home 3rd.

Amanda Enters (Anchorage) was the most consistant racer in the Junior Womens class taking home the overall win. With Meaghan Marotta (Houston) taking 2nd and Kendra Huddleston (Glenallen) coming in 3rd.

Corkey Jones (Anchorage) had to have been one of the most impressive racer of the day. Corkey moved to the Pro ranks this year out of the Semi-Pro class and this weekend he was very smooth and consistant taking home 2nd place in both the Pro Stock and Pro Open classes. Great Job!

Ron Hoffman (Valdez) and Paul Thacker (Anchorage) were the only two other Pro racers on the Podium this weekend with Ron taking a 1st in Pro Stock and 3rd in Pro Open. While Paul Thacker took 1st in Pro Open and 3rd in Pro Stock.

We saw alot of close battles in the Semi Pro classes as well. Jerry Lymburner (Fairbanks) in his first ever Snox race took home the Semi-Pro Open class win with a last lap pass on Brad Enters (Anchorage). While Matt Smelcer took home 3rd. In the Semi-Pro Stock class Kody Deweese (Fairbanks) took home the win, with Tony Petito in 2nd and Matt Smelcer in 3rd. For the full results go to www.ammcracing.com

Thanks again to all the racers and spectators who came out to the races. Don''t forget about the upcoming Ice Heat race on 1/11/04 and of course the first X-Counrty of the year the k-150 on 1/24/04 in Willow. For more info go to www.ammcracing.com
