General Membership Meeting, March 2018

#1 Post by john »

Meeting took place at Compeaus on 3/21/2018 at 7:00pm. 9 members present. (This included board members Steve, Stoney, & Dan).

Finance report: Did not have current numbers, but last month’s number were reported as; $2481 checking, $792 Savings, $1000 CD. The CD will mature next week. After much discussion, we decided stay with the current bank. We will renew the CD for a six-month period and add another $500 from the savings account to it. (Total CD value will be $1500). Stoney and Steve have the action to make this happen.

Stoney briefed on the past weeks ride to Central & Circle Hot Springs, even though he did not participate. He was told it was a very difficult ride due to deep snow. Many were getting stuck. Also, there was a high avalanche danger around Eagle summit and some tried to detour around it. Not sure how many made it to Central.

John will probably be stepping down as President sometime late this year. He will be moving south of Fairbanks and living off the grid, in a small cabin.

Steve talked about the history of the new letter. For a while, Crystal did it and membership increased. The letter was sent by mail to all members. When she stepped down and the mailings stopped, membership went down. We really need a publisher. If you know someone that might be interested in doing this (with pay), let us know

Upcoming rides & events:
• March 24th. Cantwell trip. John may be the Lead.? The ride is planned to go on to Caribou Lakes and is designed for intermediate to advanced riders.
• March 31st. Stoney may have a ride planed. Check Fairbanks Snow Travelers website for additional information.
• April 18th. General membership meeting at the Outpost.
• April 21st. End of season pot luck. It will probably be at Steve’s house. More to come.

Summer ATV riding was discussed. It is recommended that we have at least one ride per month. Past years trips were brought up, along with the highlights.

Meeting adjourned at 8:20pm

After the meeting, Dan and Steve talked about leading an ATV ride. Dan is interested in leading a ride sometime in July to Canwell glacier. (This is located about 50 miles south of Delta, behind rainbow mountains).
