Opening
The annual mee4ng of the Fairbanks Snow Travelers Board Mee4ng was called to order at
6:15pm on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 2500 Old Chena Ridge Rd, Fairbanks, AK

1. We owe Todd Smith $99 for Survey Monkey
a. We will not use Survey Monkey again
b. We will consider a different style elec4on next year
§ Nomina4ons in Nov or early Dec
§ Anyone interested in being on the board can come to the December Board
Mee4ng
§ We could vote among whoever shows up
§ Or do paper vo4ng at the Dec General Mee4ng as in years past
§ Having an elec4on is wri[en into the bylaws. (It can be changed/modified
as long as it is recorded properly.)
2. New Board Members for 2024 and their new posi4ons
a. Dan Cryer – President
b. Chris Wolter – Vice-president
c. Sarah Nelius – Treasurer
d. Diane Cryer – Secretary
e. Mike Canady – Director
f. Tim Schackman - Director
g. Tim Lokker - Director
h. Rich Doering - Director
i. Melinda Harris - Director

j. Cordell Gray was voted in but no longer wishes to be on the board
3. Need to remind riders
a. These are not alcohol sanc4oned rides
b. Check that the people behind you are s4ll behind you

4. Dan, as president, will do the club’s taxes, provide a binder at general membership
mee4ngs showing budget earnings and expenses, submit the non-profit Bi-Annual
Report to the state and post the Board Mtg notes to the website
5. Dan compared our website to several other snow machine clubs’ and will talk to the
designer of the Lake Louise snow machine club’s site. He may be able to help us update
ours when he returns from vaca4on.

6. Grooming trails
a. The Lake Louise snow machine club grooms a lot of the trails around there. They
have two different models of groomers and a number of drag-behind ones that we
can check out and evaluate, when down there in March.
b. Tim Lokker grooms the trails near his house and the dog mushers groom lots of
other trails in the Chena Hot Springs area.
7. Do we need a February newsle[er since we didn’t ride during the cold snap? Yes. Dan
will submit a few ar4cles including one on glacier riding.

8. Upcoming Rides
a. Feb 10 – Monderosa via Tanana River – Dan leads
b. Feb 17 – Chena Lakes 1st pull off to LaRae’s – Tim Lokker
leads
c. Feb 24 – Salchaket Roadhouse to the Tanana River - Tim Schackman leads – please
get a RUG from the Doyon Bldg. behind Lithia to ride on the Pipeline
d. March 2 – North Fork cabin area – Dan will recon and decide where to ride
9. Big Rides
a. Lake Louise
§ 7 people are signed up and they will get a very good deal from Lake Louise
Lodge if 3 more sign up
§ Other lodges are nearby if more come
§ Good powder and mountain riding
§ All trails are marked – green means you are headed back to the lodge
b. MaClaren Lodge 3/28-31/2024
§ 15 signed up
§ $150 PER NIGHT
