Cantwell April 19th - 20th
Greetings,
I will not be going on the run to Windy Gap on Saturday. John is questionable. We need a new ride leader if its going to happen. Also I will not be making the ride on April 19/20. I am planning on being in Valdez for the hill climb. That ride will need a sponsor as well if its to happen.
Thanks
Dean

April 19th - 20th is a Cantwell run and I plan to be there. I also plan this to be my last ride for season. So you all got a sponsor....
Now, with that said, bring your GPS's and maps so we can get lost :<) .. only kidding.
This is set as an advanced/family run. The snow is deep in Cantwell but good for some Mtn riding and rolling hills. I'll have the wife and grandson along, so don't plan to do to much climbing (like I do any way) and depending on who all shows will dictate where we go.
See ya all there I hope.
PS: we'll be meeting at the Cantwell Lodge at 9:00 AM, "not" mile 196.

It looks like I will have one space on a four-place trailer for this trip. We will be overnighting at the Backwoods Lodge on the 19th. I do not have an extra space there. Anybody interested? e-mail paulneva@acsalaska.net.
Paul
John, Suggest you change the title of this to “Cantwell” or “19-20 April.”

Read the posts linked to above. But I will reinterate;
2nd note, you need the pass on your person, not your rig. Vehicle parking areas (DOT pullouts) are on State of Alaska lands (Yes this part is rumor).
In short, I can park my rig on any DOT pull out and stay their as long as the DOT regs allow, however, if I'm riding on AHTNA lands and don't have my permit on me they (Troopers) could ticket me. AHTNA could document that I was on their lands and take me to court for trespassing.
As of now, I plan to get a permit next year and hope that AHTNA and ASSA come to an agreement and that the access trails (noted in the ASSA post) are properly marked. If the permits become to expensive I plan to do all my Cantwell riding in the areas outside of AHNA lands and not get a permit.
And the Troopers will not / can not enforce any actions unless you break the law i.e. traspasse on "any private" lands without a permit or permission.they do not have any authority in the DOT right-a-way

Cantwell ride
Hope its a sunny day. With a little sunshine and the Cat Kitchen you folks should have a really nice day of it. If you get on the "highway" headed towards the Dunkles you can find a nice play area to set up in for lunch and should encounter decent riding for all levels.
