Parks Hwy Update : (Same storm hitting the Rich and Summit)
A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM AKDT THIS EVENING.
SNOW FALLING ACROSS THE SUSITNA VALLEY WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES BY MID MORNING. TEMPERATURES WILL WARM BY THURSDAY AFTERNOON FROM TALKEETNA SOUTHWARD WITH POTENTIAL FOR RAIN MIXING IN. TOTAL ACCUMULATION OF 10 TO 20 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED. SNOW WILL BEGIN TO TAPER OFF FROM SOUTH TO NORTH LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING.
A STRONG WEATHER FRONT ASSOCIATED WITH AN INTENSE STORM SYSTEM IN THE BERING SEA IS RAPIDLY APPROACHING SOUTHCENTRAL ALASKA. THIS FRONT WILL PRODUCE BLIZZARD CONDITIONS IN THOMPSON PASS AND HEAVY SNOW IN THE NORTHERN AND WESTERN SUSITNA VALLEY.
Whichever way your going, be careful this weekend.

We've gotten 3 or 4 inches up here on Cleary Summit today. Should be good sledding. The Fairbanks Creek Road should be usable if they don't plow it again.

X Drifting Snow
X Blowing Snow
X Heavy Snowfall
Additional Information: Hazardous driving conditions on the Parks Highway between MP 163-231 due to heavy snowfall with 12-16 inches of accumulation, drifting and blowing snow. Snow on the roadway and poor visibility. Road surface is snow packed and icy.
Hazardous driving conditions on the Parks Highway between MP 304-344 due to heavy snowfall with 6” accumulation, drifting snow and frozen slush. Road surface is very icy.
Travel is not recommended at this time. Please watch out for maintenance crews working in both these areas., reduce speeds, use headlights and drive with caution if you have to travel. This advisory will be in effect for the next 24 hours.
