Yukon Quest request for trail help
Posted: Mon Dec 04, 2017 3:26 pm
In years past members of FST have helped the Yukon Quest in breaking trail from Fairbanks to Whitehorse and the Quest folks are again looking for some snowmachine assistance. If you're interested in helping, contact Mike Reitz <mreitz@alaska.net> and/or Chris Clark <CLARKCLANK@GMAIL.COM>
Hello again Yukon Quest Trailbreakers.
The 2018 Yukon Quest race will start Feb 3 in F'bnks.
Start years in F'bnks means we have both the 1000 mile and 300 mile race running at the same time.
The 300 Mile race will probably turn back at Circle and end at Central.
There will be 50 plus dog teams on the trail between F’bnks and Circle, many of the 300 Mile racers are rookie teams which sometimes need assistance along the trail.
We need 1 or 2 machines to run in front of the dogteams from Fairbanks to Circle, Feb 3 – 5. These machine(s) will accompany Bob Daffe, the Canadian Ranger who once again will run point ahead of the mushers for the whole Quest Trail.
Joe and Craig will join Bob in Circle and ride Circle to Clinton Creek ahead of the teams.
For the race we'll need machines at the various checkpoints. If you and/or a friend can help out for a day or two or three that would be greatly appreciated.
We need:
2 machines at Mile 57, CHS Road, Feb 3 -5
2 machines at 101 Mile Steese, Feb 3– 6.
2 machines at Central, Feb 3 – 7.
2 machines at Circle, Feb 3– 7.
These machines will stand by during the race to provide assistance and sweep the trail behind the last musher
